β¨ Technical Specifications
d'Arenberg's 'White Ochre' is a vibrant, fruit-driven white blend that celebrates the diverse soils of South Australia. The name 'Ochre' pays homage to the colorful, iron-rich clay soils found throughout the McLaren Vale region, which have been used for thousands of years by Indigenous Australians for ceremonial body paint and art. This wine is crafted to showcase a fresh, aromatic, and highly approachable style, typically blending Chenin Blanc and Riesling. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the bright, primary fruit characters and zesty acidity. It represents d'Arenberg's knack for creating highly drinkable, characterful wines that punch well above their weight, offering a lively expression of South Australian sunshine in a glass.
πΎ About the Producer
Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, d'Arenberg has grown into one of McLaren Vale's most iconic and storied family-owned estates in South Australia. Under the visionary stewardship of fourth-generation winemaker Chester Osborn, the winery adheres strictly to traditional, sustainable methods, utilizing certified organic and biodynamic viticulture along with foot-treading and basket pressing. Renowned for its eclectic naming conventions and distinctive red-stripe label, the estate crafts a wide spectrum of expressive wines with a particular mastery of RhΓ΄ne varieties, old-vine Grenache, and robust Shiraz. Signature bottlings such as 'The Dead Arm Shiraz' and 'The Ironstone Pressings' stand as benchmarks of regional depth, complexity, and age-worthy character.
