Typically best enjoyed 5 to 15 years from the vintage release, as the intense tannins soften and reveal complex tertiary notes of leather, truffle, and spice.

Delas Frères' Cornas 'Chante-Perdrix' (often referred to simply as Perdrix) is a definitive expression of the rugged, sun-drenched slopes of the Northern Rhône. The name 'Chante-Perdrix' translates to 'singing partridge,' a nod to the wild partridges that nest in the warm, terraced granite vineyards of the appellation. Sourced from steep, south-facing granite terraces, this wine benefits from intense solar exposure and the heat-retaining properties of the decomposed granite soils, locally known as 'chaillot.' Delas crafts this cuvée using traditional vinification with complete destemming to manage the appellation's characteristically powerful tannins, followed by careful aging in oak barrels. The result is a dark, brooding, and deeply structured wine that beautifully balances intense dark fruit with savory, mineral, and smoky characteristics.
