In Alsace, wines labeled as Pinot Blanc are historically and traditionally a harmonious blend of Pinot Blanc and its close relative, Pinot Auxerrois. Sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards in and around the village of Bergholtz, the grapes benefit from the region's diverse soils, which combine clay, limestone, and sandstone. The Dirler-Cadé family employs meticulous hand-harvesting and gentle, long pressings, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging on fine lees in traditional large oak foudres. This patient, low-intervention approach coaxes out a wine of remarkable purity, balancing a round, textured palate with a vibrant, limestone-driven mineral core. Now run by the fifth generation, Jean-Christophe Dirler and his wife Ludivine Cadé, the estate expanded in 1998 through the union of their family vineyards.
