✨ Technical Specifications
In 2012, Dom Pérignon embarked on a historic artistic collaboration with the visionary American filmmaker David Lynch, who designed a dark, theatrical limited-edition shield and box for the iconic Champagne. This release, housing the legendary 2003 vintage, represents a meeting of two avant-garde worlds. The 2003 growing season in Champagne was one of extreme weather, marked by a severe spring frost followed by an unprecedented summer heatwave, resulting in one of the earliest harvests in history. Rather than declaring no vintage, Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy embraced the challenge, crafting a singular, voluptuous masterpiece. The wine is a precise, harmonious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sourced from Grand Cru vineyards and the historic Abbey of Hautvillers. It underwent nearly a decade of yeast autolysis in the chalky cellars of Épernay, emerging with a dark, brooding complexity, intense minerality, and a rich, velvety texture that perfectly mirrors Lynch's cinematic aesthetic.
🍾 About the Producer
Named in honor of the 17th-century Benedictine monk who pioneered foundational sparkling winemaking techniques at the historic Abbey of Hautvillers, Dom Pérignon stands as the archetype of prestige vintage Champagne. Owned by Moët Hennessy, the house strictly produces only vintage wines, releasing cuvées exclusively in harvest years deemed truly exceptional. Crafted from a seamless blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from Grand Cru vineyards and the historic Premier Cru of Hautvillers, each vintage undergoes a minimum of eight years of lees aging. The signature Dom Pérignon Brut, along with its rare Rosé and extended-aging Plénitude editions, is celebrated worldwide for its immaculate balance of youthful freshness, mineral precision, and deep, autolytic complexity.
