✨ Technical Specifications
The Bourgogne Blanc from Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a masterclass in regional appellation wine, often punching far above its weight class due to its exceptional pedigree. Crafted from Chardonnay vines situated largely within the commune of Meursault, including parcels in 'Les Herbeux' and younger vines from the historic 'Clos de la Barre', this white Burgundy receives the exact same meticulous care as the estate's legendary Premier Crus. The grapes are farmed biodynamically and fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in the estate's famously deep, cold cellars, where the chilly temperatures slow down the malolactic fermentation. This extended, cool elevage in oak barrels coaxes out a signature tension, combining a rich, textured mid-palate with a vibrant, limestone-driven acidity that reflects the classic clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune.
🍾 About the Producer
Domaine des Comtes Lafon was established in the late nineteenth century by Jules Lafon and stands as one of the most celebrated and historic wine estates in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. Located in the village of Meursault, the domaine achieved world-renowned status under the pioneering direction of Dominique Lafon, who took over in the 1980s and transitioned the vineyards to strict biodynamic and organic farming practices. The estate is distinguished by its extraordinary collection of prestigious Premier Cru and Grand Cru holdings, most notably in Meursault (including Clos de la Barre, Charmes, Perrières, and Genevrières), Montrachet, and the red-wine terroirs of Volnay. Renowned for their precision, tension, and age-worthy complexity, Comtes Lafon's white and red expressions epitomize the pinnacle of Burgundian terroir-driven winemaking.
