Le Monsard is a highly regarded parcel located in the commune of Milly-Lamartine within the Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy. Bottled under the 'Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon' label—the Lafon family's pioneering estate established in 1999—this wine benefits from the same legendary biodynamic viticulture and precision winemaking that defines their iconic Meursaults. The vineyard of Le Monsard is situated on a steep, high-altitude slope of the Monsard hill, where very stony, thin, limestone-dominant soils force the vines to dig deep. This cool-climate terroir imparts a distinctive mineral tension, vibrant acidity, and crystalline purity to the Chardonnay, which is aged in large, neutral oak foudres to preserve its fresh, terroir-driven character.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1869 by Jules Lafon in the historic commune of Meursault, Domaine des Comtes Lafon is one of Burgundy's most revered estates, celebrated for producing white wines of legendary depth and longevity. Under the visionary leadership of Dominique Lafon, who took over in 1984, the domaine transitioned entirely to biodynamic viticulture by the late 1990s, pioneering sustainable farming in the Côte de Beaune. The estate's cellars, among the deepest and coldest in the region, facilitate a slow, meticulous aging process in oak casks that imparts remarkable complexity to their premier cru Meursaults and Grand Cru Montrachet. Located at Clos de la Barre, 21190 Meursault, France, the domaine continues to set the benchmark for expressive, terroir-driven Chardonnay and elegant Pinot Noir, with further information available on their official website at http://www.comtes-lafon.fr.
