✨ Technical Specifications
Domaine des Comtes Lafon’s Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru 'Aux Reignots' is a legendary rarity in the world of fine Burgundy. While the estate is globally renowned for its white Meursaults, this micro-cuvée of red Burgundy represents a prized jewel in their portfolio. The tiny parcel of just 0.12 hectares sits high on the slope in Vosne-Romanée, directly above the iconic Grand Cru La Romanée. This exceptional terroir features shallow, stony limestone soils that impart a striking mineral tension and ethereal perfume to the Pinot Noir. Historically, these vines were farmed under sharecropping agreements until Dominique Lafon reclaimed them to apply the estate's strict biodynamic principles. The wine is vinified with meticulous care, utilizing a gentle extraction and aging in French oak barrels to preserve its profound aromatic complexity, showcasing notes of dark cherries, exotic spices, and crushed stones.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1869 by the Boch family and formally developed by Comte Jules Lafon following his marriage to Marie Boch in 1894, Domaine des Comtes Lafon is an undisputed benchmark of Meursault. In the mid-1980s, fourth-generation vigneron Dominique Lafon reclaimed historical family parcels from sharecroppers, pioneering a conversion to certified organic viticulture in 1995 and full biodynamics by 1998. Today, the 16.3-hectare Côte de Beaune estate is directed by the fifth generation, Léa and Pierre Lafon. The domaine boasts exceptional holdings across premier crus—including Genevrières, Perrières, and Charmes—alongside the monopole Clos de la Barre, prime red terroirs in Volnay Santenots-du-Milieu, and a cherished parcel of Grand Cru Le Montrachet acquired in 1919. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in modest proportions of new French oak in cold, deep cellars, Lafon's Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs achieve crystalline terroir expression, textural breadth, and profound ageability.
