🍾 About the Producer
Domaine Leroy was established in 1988 when Lalou Bize-Leroy, longtime co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and head of Maison Leroy, acquired the historic vineyard holdings of Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée and Domaine Philippe-Rémy in Gevrey-Chambertin. From its inception, Madame Leroy converted the estate's roughly 22 hectares entirely to strict biodynamic viticulture, certified by Ecocert. The domaine's mosaic spans premier crus and legendary grand crus across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, rooted in classic limestone and clay-marl soils. Viticulture is uncompromising: vines are individually manicured without hedging to preserve canopy equilibrium, and extreme pruning results in microscopic yields often averaging just 15 to 16 hectoliters per hectare. In the cellar, whole-cluster vinification proceeds with indigenous yeasts and without temperature control, followed by aging in 100% new oak barrels without fining or filtration. Crowned by iconic benchmarks such as Musigny, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Chambertin, and Richebourg, Leroy's expressions epitomize supreme concentration, ethereal aromatic complexity, and profound terroir precision.
