✨ wine.spec_sheet

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mont de Sène in the southern Côte de Beaune, the 'Clos de Malte' is an exceptional 7-hectare monopole solely owned by Domaine Louis Jadot. This historic vineyard, situated in the Santenay appellation, derives its evocative name from the legendary Knights of Malta, who historically held influence and land in this part of Burgundy. The terroir here is characterized by a unique soil composition of damp limestone and clay, which forces the vines to dig deep for nutrients. This struggle yields a Pinot Noir of remarkable structure, balancing bright red fruit character with a distinct, earthy minerality. Traditional fermentation in open vats followed by careful aging in French oak barrels preserves the purity of the fruit while imparting a subtle, elegant spice.
