Domaine Ponsot's Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru 'Clos des Alouettes' is a celebrated monopole that captures the soul of this historic estate. The vineyard's name, translating to 'Enclosure of the Larks,' evokes the high-altitude, sun-drenched slopes where these birds gather above the village. Perched on thin, stony limestone soils, this terroir imparts a striking mineral tension and ethereal elegance to the wine. True to the Ponsot philosophy, the winemaking is fiercely traditional: fermentations rely on native yeasts in ancient wooden vats, and the wine is aged entirely in seasoned oak barrels with no new wood, preserving the pristine, unadorned expression of Pinot Noir. The result is a Premier Cru of exceptional purity, balancing vibrant red fruit with wild herbal notes and a refined, chalky structure.

Domaine Ponsot blev grundlagt i 1872 af William Ponsot og er en legendarisk ejendom med base i Morey-Saint-Denis i hjertet af Côte de Nuits i Bourgogne. Domænet er kendt for sin uafhængighed og pionerånd; det var således blandt de allerførste i regionen, der tappede vinene på eget domæne i 1930'erne og gik forrest inden for klonselektion. Vingården arbejder ud fra et princip om minimal intervention med lavt udbytte fra ældgamle vinstokke, sen høst for at sikre optimal fysiologisk modenhed og lagring på brugte, neutrale egetræsfade for at bevare terroirets renhed.
