Cuvée Lucien Prestige
⏳ Drinking Window
Typically best enjoyed 2–6 years from release.
🍷 Vintage Profile
The 2022 growing season in Sancerre was defined by persistent heat and severe drought, mitigated by welcome late-summer rains that unlocked phenolic maturation without compromising fruit health. The appellation's Kimmeridgian marls and Oxfordian limestone soils retained crucial groundwater reserves, preserving fresh mineral tension and balancing the naturally lower malic acidity of the solar vintage. In the cellar, this concentrated, extract-rich fruit integrates seamlessly with partial wood maturation and fine lees contact, yielding a broader, more unctuous palate. Highly regarded on the market as a ripe and expressive year, this bottling is entering its optimal drinking window in 2026 and will comfortably cellar through 2029.
🍽️ Food & Wine Pairings
Crottin de Chavignol, pan-seared sea scallops with lemon beurre blanc, grilled trout with fresh tarragon.
✨ Technical Specifications
This cuvée represents a selection of mature Sauvignon Blanc vines rooted predominantly in classic Kimmeridgian marls (terres blanches) and limestone caillottes around Sury-en-Vaux. The vinification emphasizes extended lees aging, traditionally conducted in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with a small proportion sometimes seeing seasoned oak, fostering enhanced textural depth while retaining the appellation's hallmark mineral tension and chiseled acidity.
🍾 About the Producer
Domaine Raimbault-Pineau is a multi-generational family estate anchored in the village of Sury-en-Vaux, located five kilometers northwest of Sancerre in the Central Loire Valley. With viticultural roots spanning thirteen generations and more than three centuries, the 18-hectare domaine is directed by Sonia Raimbault alongside her children. The vineyards are distributed across the signature geological trio of the region: Oxfordian limestone caillottes, fossil-rich Kimmeridgian marls (terres blanches), and flint-laden silex, extending across four appellations—Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Coteaux du Giennois, and Menetou-Salon. Viticulture is conducted according to sustainable lutte raisonnée principles, respecting vine health and soil microbial life. Cellar practices prioritize temperature-controlled stainless steel vinification and fine-lees aging, preserving laser-sharp tension, bright citrus, and crisp gunflint minerality in Sauvignon Blanc, while crafting supple, red-fruited expressions of Pinot Noir.
