The Clos Jebsal is a tiny, steep 1.3-hectare monopole vineyard in Turckheim owned exclusively by Domaine Zind Humbrecht. Situated on a south-facing slope directly below the Brand Grand Cru, its unique terroir is dominated by grey marl and gypsum from the Keuper geological period. This heavy, clay-rich soil acts like a sponge, retaining moisture even in dry years, which, combined with the warm microclimate, creates the perfect breeding ground for Botrytis cinerea (noble rot). The Selection de Grains Nobles (SGN) is only produced in years when the noble rot achieves absolute perfection. The grapes are painstakingly harvested by hand, berry by berry, yielding an incredibly concentrated, nectar-like wine. Because of the extreme sugar levels, fermentation is exceptionally slow and often stops naturally at a very low alcohol level, leaving a wine of immense complexity, luscious sweetness, and vibrant, balancing acidity.

๐Ÿพ wine.about_producer

Formed in 1959 through the merger of two historic winegrowing families, Domaine Zind Humbrecht is located in Turckheim, Alsace, and is globally revered as a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, having achieved certification in 1997 under the stewardship of Olivier Humbrecht MW. The estate meticulously manages legendary grand cru and single-vineyard sites, including Clos Windsbuhl, Clos Hauserer, and Hengst, where low yields and slow, natural fermentations preserve the pure expression of the terroir. Renowned for its uncompromising commitment to quality, the domaine produces highly concentrated, complex white wines from Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer, ranging from bone-dry expressions to legendary late-harvest Vendanges Tardives and botrytized Sรฉlection de Grains Nobles.
