Perched on the impossibly steep, south-facing volcanic slopes of the Rangen de Thann Grand Cru—the southernmost vineyard in Alsace—the Clos Saint Urbain is a legendary site steeped in history. Named after the patron saint of winegrowers, whose historic chapel sits amidst the vines, this vineyard features a unique volcanic soil composition that imparts an unmistakable smoky, flinty, and intensely mineral character to the Pinot Gris. The proximity to the Thur river creates a microclimate that can encourage noble rot, leading to wines of immense concentration, power, and complexity. Domaine Zind Humbrecht utilizes biodynamic farming and slow, indigenous yeast fermentations to craft a Pinot Gris of unparalleled depth, balancing opulent texture with a vibrant, fiery acidity born of its volcanic origin.

Domaine Zind Humbrecht blev grundlagt i 1959 ved en sammenlægning af to traditionsrige alsaciske vinfamilier, hvis vinbønder-rødder strækker sig helt tilbage til 1620. Ejendommen har hjemme i Turckheim i hjertet af Alsace og opnåede international stjernestatus under ledelse af Léonard Humbrecht og sidenhen sønnen Olivier Humbrecht, der blev Frankrigs første Master of Wine. Vingården er en sand pioner inden for økologisk og biodynamisk vindyrkning og skaber kompromisløst terroirprægede hvidvine med minimal indgriben fra legendariske Grand Cru- og lieu-dit-marker som Rangen de Thann, Clos Windsbuhl og Hengst.
