The Heimbourg lieu-dit, situated on a steep, wind-swept hill overlooking the valley of Munster in Turckheim, is renowned for its complex geology dominated by oligocene limestone and calcareous clay. This terroir imparts a distinctive, structural minerality to the Riesling vines planted here. Domaine Zind Humbrecht treats this vineyard with biodynamic rigor, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly under the late afternoon sun of its west-facing slopes. The wine is crafted using traditional, slow fermentations with indigenous yeasts in large, neutral oak foudres, resulting in a Riesling of immense depth, vibrant acidity, and a characteristic flinty, saline finish that reflects its ancient limestone soils.

๐Ÿพ wine.about_producer

Formed in 1959 through the merger of two historic winegrowing families, Domaine Zind Humbrecht is located in Turckheim, Alsace, and is globally revered as a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, having achieved certification in 1997 under the stewardship of Olivier Humbrecht MW. The estate meticulously manages legendary grand cru and single-vineyard sites, including Clos Windsbuhl, Clos Hauserer, and Hengst, where low yields and slow, natural fermentations preserve the pure expression of the terroir. Renowned for its uncompromising commitment to quality, the domaine produces highly concentrated, complex white wines from Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer, ranging from bone-dry expressions to legendary late-harvest Vendanges Tardives and botrytized Sรฉlection de Grains Nobles.
