✨ wine.spec_sheet

Domaine Zind Humbrecht's Turckheim Pinot Gris showcases the unique gravelly, silt-laden soils of the valley floor in Turckheim, which absorb heat during the day and radiate it back to the vines at night. This terroir, combined with the estate's strict biodynamic farming practices, yields a Pinot Gris of remarkable depth, texture, and complexity. Historically, Pinot Gris in Alsace was associated with the legendary 'Tokay' moniker, a name wrapped in centuries of European folklore before modern regulations protected the Hungarian origin. Zind Humbrecht vinifies this cuvée using indigenous yeasts and slow, cool fermentations in traditional large oak foudres, resulting in a wine that beautifully balances rich, smoky stone fruit characters with a vibrant, mineral-driven acidity.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Formed in 1959 through the merger of two historic winegrowing families, Domaine Zind Humbrecht is located in Turckheim, Alsace, and is globally revered as a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, having achieved certification in 1997 under the stewardship of Olivier Humbrecht MW. The estate meticulously manages legendary grand cru and single-vineyard sites, including Clos Windsbuhl, Clos Hauserer, and Hengst, where low yields and slow, natural fermentations preserve the pure expression of the terroir. Renowned for its uncompromising commitment to quality, the domaine produces highly concentrated, complex white wines from Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer, ranging from bone-dry expressions to legendary late-harvest Vendanges Tardives and botrytized Sélection de Grains Nobles.
