The Dierberg Vineyard Pinot Noir by Dominion Tantara is a masterful expression of the Santa Maria Valley's unique cool-climate terroir. Situated on the southern mesa of the valley, the Dierberg Vineyard is blessed with free-draining sandy loam soils and is heavily influenced by the maritime winds and morning fog rolling in from the nearby Pacific Ocean. This transverse coastal influence extends the growing season, allowing the Pinot Noir grapes to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness while retaining their vibrant natural acidity. Dominion Tantara employs traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques, including fermentation in open-top vessels and aging in select French oak barrels, to preserve the pure, site-specific character of the fruit. The resulting wine is celebrated for its elegant structure, silky tannins, and a complex aromatic profile of red berries, earthy forest floor, and subtle spice.
