Founded in 1798 by Portuguese merchant Bruno da Silva and later joining forces with Dow & Co. before coming under the renowned stewardship of the Symington family in 1912, Dow's is one of the foundational Port houses of Portugal's Douro Valley. Anchored by its legendary estates, Quinta do Bomfim in Pinhão and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira in Douro Superior, the house is distinguished for pioneering a famously drier, intensely structured profile of Port wine. Leveraging traditional granite lagar fermentation alongside meticulous vineyard management, Dow's produces benchmark Vintage Ports alongside concentrated Colheita Single Year Releases and aged Tawnies celebrated for their profound depth, flinty mineral character, and formidable aging potential.
