Crafted by the legendary Ernst Loosen, this rare Eiswein is a testament to the extreme viticulture of Germany's Mosel region. The name 'Badstube' refers to the historic medieval bathhouses of Bernkastel. To produce this liquid gold, 100% Riesling grapes are left on the steep, Devonian slate slopes well into winter, risking rot and hungry wildlife. When temperatures finally plummet to at least -7 degrees Celsius, the frozen grapes are harvested in the freezing darkness of early morning. Pressing them while still frozen leaves the water behind as ice, yielding an incredibly concentrated, sweet nectar balanced by the Mosel's signature electric acidity and mineral precision.
