Hailing from the steep, sun-drenched slopes of the Middle Mosel, the Graacher Himmelreich Riesling GG Alte Reben from the legendary Dr. Loosen estate is a masterclass in dry German Riesling. The vineyard name, translating to 'Kingdom of Heaven,' refers to the sublime quality of the site, where deep blue Devonian slate soils store heat and impart an intense, flinty minerality to the grapes. This Grosses Gewachs (GG) is crafted from 'Alte Reben'—ancient, ungrafted vines, some over a century old, that dig deep into the bedrock to yield tiny, highly concentrated berries. Ernst Loosen, a passionate guardian of Mosel heritage, utilizes traditional winemaking techniques, fermenting the juice with indigenous yeasts in large, neutral oak Fuder casks. This slow, cool fermentation and extended lees contact result in a wine of profound complexity, balancing vibrant stone fruit and citrus notes with a structural, saline-driven finish.

The historic Dr. Loosen estate has been in the Loosen family for over two centuries, situated along the dramatic, slate-lined slopes of the Middle Mosel in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. Since taking over management in 1988, Ernst Loosen has revitalized the winery by strictly focusing on low yields, meticulous vineyard stewardship, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The estate is blessed with extraordinarily old, ungrafted Riesling vines in legendary Grand Cru (Grosse Lage) vineyards such as Erdener Prälat, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Bernkasteler Lay.
