Dr. Loosen's Riesling Beerenauslese (BA) is a testament to the painstaking artistry of traditional Mosel winemaking. This luscious dessert wine is crafted only in vintages where autumn mists along the winding Mosel River encourage the development of Botrytis cinerea, or 'noble rot.' This beneficial fungus concentrates the sugars, acids, and flavors within the Riesling grapes. Harvested entirely by hand, vineyard workers meticulously select individual shriveled berries from the estate's steep, slate-rich slopes. The slate soils act as a heat reservoir, helping the grapes achieve optimal ripeness in this cool climate. The resulting wine is a brilliant golden nectar that beautifully balances intense sweetness with the Mosel's signature vibrant, electric acidity, offering complex notes of honeyed peach, dried apricot, and a distinct slate minerality.
