The 'Pie de Monte' (meaning foothills) series by Hector and Pablo Durigutti is a terroir-driven exploration of Argentina's high-altitude vineyards. Finca Jarillas is located in the prestigious Gualtallary district within the Tupungato region of the Uco Valley, situated at an imposing elevation of approximately 1,360 meters above sea level. The vineyard is named after the 'jarilla', a resilient native shrub of the Andean foothills that fills the mountain air with a distinct, resinous aroma after rain. Grown on highly calcareous, stony soils, this single-vineyard Malbec is crafted using minimal-intervention techniques, including fermentation with native yeasts in concrete vessels. This approach preserves the intense mineral tension, chalky tannins, and fresh floral and dark fruit character that define Gualtallary's extreme terroir.
