E. Guigal's Hermitage 'Ex Voto' Rouge is a monumental expression of Syrah, born from the legendary, sun-drenched granite slopes of the Hermitage hill. The name 'Ex Voto' translates to 'from a vow,' reflecting the Guigal family's solemn promise to only produce this cuvée in the absolute finest vintages. Crafted from exceptionally old vines situated in the historic climats of Bessards, Greffieux, L'Hermite, and Muret, this wine represents the pinnacle of northern Rhône power and complexity. True to Guigal's uncompromising style, the wine undergoes an astonishing 42 months of aging in 100% new French oak barrels crafted in the estate's private cooperage. This extended maturation tames the fierce, muscular tannins of the Hermitage granite, resulting in a dark, brooding masterpiece of black fruit, smoked meats, graphite, and exotic spices.

Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in the ancient village of Ampuis, Domaine E. Guigal has become one of the Rhône Valley's most illustrious and influential wine estates. Now managed by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the family is headquartered at the historic Château d'Ampuis, where they craft legendary wines that define the northern and southern Rhône. The estate is globally renowned for its iconic Côte-Rôtie single-vineyard bottlings—La Mouline, La Turque, and La Landonne—as well as the opulent Condrieu La Doriane. Their uncompromising production philosophy emphasizes extremely long barrel aging in their custom, in-house cooperage, resulting in wines of extraordinary depth, structure, and longevity.
