La Turque is one of E. Guigal's legendary 'La La' wines, representing the pinnacle of Côte-Rôtie. Sourced from a tiny, steep, south-facing parcel of just under one hectare on the Côte Brune, this vineyard was historically owned by the Vidal family before being acquired and revitalized by the Guigals, with its maiden vintage debuting in 1985. The terroir consists of iron-rich schist and clay soils, which impart a formidable structure and dark-fruited intensity to the wine. Uniquely, La Turque is co-fermented with a small percentage of Viognier, adding an exotic, floral lift to the powerful Syrah. The wine undergoes an incredibly rigorous aging regimen of 42 months in 100% new French oak barrels crafted in the estate's private cooperage. This painstaking process yields a wine of monumental complexity, seamlessly blending the muscular power of La Landonne with the seductive, aromatic elegance of La Mouline.
