The Wiltinger Braune Kupp vineyard is a legendary steep site situated on a horseshoe bend of the Saar River, a tributary of the Mosel. Acquired by the Egon Müller family in 1954 through the purchase of the Le Gallais estate, this vineyard is renowned for its unique terroir of iron-rich, reddish-brown Devonian slate, which gives the hill its name ('brown summit'). Under the meticulous stewardship of Egon Müller, the Riesling grapes for this Spätlese are harvested late in the season to achieve optimal ripeness. Fermented spontaneously in traditional old oak 'Fuder' casks, the wine beautifully captures the tension between luscious natural sweetness and the piercing, electric acidity characteristic of the cool Saar climate. It represents a historic legacy of minimal-intervention winemaking that coaxes profound mineral complexity from one of Germany's finest vineyard sites.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
