Kanta is a fascinating cross-continental collaboration that brings the peerless Riesling expertise of Mosel legend Egon Müller IV to the cool-climate terroirs of South Australia. Intrigued by the potential of Australian Riesling, Müller partnered with Adelaide wine retailer Michael Andrewartha to create a dry, texturally complex expression of the grape. Sourced primarily from premium, cool-climate vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, Kanta is crafted using traditional German winemaking philosophies. Unlike many classic, highly acidic Australian Rieslings, Kanta undergoes a period of skin contact, wild yeast fermentation, and extended lees contact before release. This deliberate, patient approach results in a wine that beautifully bridges the gap between Old World complexity and New World fruit intensity, offering a beautifully textured, mineral-driven profile with notes of citrus peel, flint, and subtle spice.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label.
