The estate of Le Gallais, situated in the historic Wiltinger Braune Kupp vineyard, has been under the stewardship of the legendary Egon Muller family since 1954. Unlike the cool, wind-swept Scharzhofberg, the Braune Kupp is a steep, south-facing amphitheater of dark, iron-rich Devonian slate rising directly above the Saar River. This unique microclimate coaxes Riesling into a richer, more exotic expression. The Auslese Goldkapsel Versteigerung represents the absolute pinnacle of this site's potential. Crafted only in exceptional vintages from meticulously hand-selected, botrytized berries, this liquid gold is bottled in extremely limited quantities specifically for the prestigious annual VDP Trier Wine Auction. Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof traces its heritage to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the historic estate, nestled in Wiltingen along the Saar valley within Germany's famed Mosel region. Handed down across generations, the estate is celebrated globally under the stewardship of Egon Müller IV, who maintains a deeply traditional approach emphasizing pristine vineyard management, late harvesting, and minimal cellar intervention. The estate is crowned by its holdings in the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, home to pre-phylloxera, ungrafted Riesling vines grown on steep, slate soils.
