Egon Müller’s Scharzhofberg is the crown jewel of the Saar, a tributary of the Mosel where cool winds and steep, iron-rich Devonian slate soils yield Rieslings of unmatched tension and longevity. The estate's history dates back to the late 18th century when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the confiscated monastic property. The 'Auslese Auktion' is a legendary, ultra-rare bottling crafted from meticulously hand-selected, botrytis-affected grapes. Released exclusively through the annual VDP Grosser Ring auction in Trier, this wine represents the absolute pinnacle of the estate's selection process. Fermented in traditional neutral oak Fuder casks using indigenous yeasts, it balances staggering natural sweetness with a razor-sharp, electric acidity and a profound, smoky mineral core that defines the Scharzhofberg terroir.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
