Hailing from the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard in the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel, this wine represents the absolute pinnacle of German winemaking. The Egon Müller estate, with roots tracing back to the late 18th century when the Koch family acquired the land following the French Revolution, is synonymous with peerless Riesling. The Scharzhofberg vineyard is renowned for its weathered grey slate soils, cool microclimate, and ancient, ungrafted vines. The 'Auslese Goldkapsel' designation indicates an extraordinary selection of botrytized grapes, offering intense concentration balanced by vibrant, electric acidity. Because this is an 'Auction' (Versteigerung) bottling, it is produced in extremely minute quantities and sold exclusively at the annual VDP auction in Trier, making it one of the most sought-after and collectible white wines on earth.

Historien bag Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof strækker sig tilbage til 1797, hvor Jean-Jacques Koch erhvervede den historiske ejendom i Wiltingen, beliggende i Saar-dalen i Tysklands berømte Mosel-region.
