The Scharzhofberg is arguably Germany's most legendary vineyard, a steep, south-facing wall of weathered grey slate in the cool Saar valley. Its history stretches back to the 6th century when it was cultivated by the Benedictine monks of Saint Paul's Abbey in Trier. Since 1797, the Müller family has safeguarded this terroir, crafting Rieslings of unmatched precision. The 'Auslese Goldkapsel' represents an extraordinary selection of botrytis-affected grapes, harvested by hand with painstaking berry-by-berry selection. Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof traces its heritage to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the historic estate, nestled in Wiltingen along the Saar valley within Germany's famed Mosel region.
