Deep in the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel, lies the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, a site of viticultural pilgrimage since the Middle Ages when it was tended by Benedictine monks. Acquired by the Müller family in 1797 during the secularization of the region, this steep, south-facing slope of weathered grey slate produces what many consider the ultimate expression of Riesling. The Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese 'Nr25' represents an elite, highly coveted auction-grade bottling crafted from meticulously hand-selected grapes, heavily influenced by noble rot.
