Egon Müller’s Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese is a legendary elixir born from one of the wine world’s most revered terroirs. Located in the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel, the Scharzhofberg vineyard is famed for its steep, south-facing slopes of weathered grey slate. The history of the estate stretches back to the medieval monks of the Abbey of St. Paul in Trier, but it was the Müller family who elevated it to global stardom after acquiring the property in the late 18th century. Crafted from 100% Riesling, this Auslese is made from meticulously hand-selected grapes, often affected by noble rot (botrytis). Fermented in traditional neutral oak Fuder casks, the wine achieves a breathtaking tension between luscious, honeyed sweetness and a piercing, electric mineral acidity that is unique to the cool Saar microclimate.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
