Deep in the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel, lies the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, a place of viticultural pilgrimage. Here, the Egon Müller estate crafts what are widely considered the world's finest Rieslings. The estate's history is steeped in lore, tracing back to medieval monks before being acquired by Jean-Jacques Koch during the French Revolution; his descendants, the Müller family, have preserved this legacy since 1797. The Scharzhofberg vineyard itself is a steep, south-facing amphitheater of grey and red Devonian slate, possessing a cool microclimate that allows grapes to ripen slowly while retaining electric acidity. The 'Auslese Nr. 6' is a rare, highly coveted auction bottling, crafted only in exceptional vintages from meticulously hand-selected, botrytis-affected grapes. Fermented in traditional old oak fuders using native yeasts, this 100% Riesling is a masterclass in tension, balancing luscious, honeyed sweetness with a crystalline, saline minerality that is uniquely Scharzhofberg.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
