Deep in the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel, lies the legendary Scharzhofberg—a vineyard so revered that its name stands alone on the label, free from any village prefix. The estate of Egon Müller has been the custodian of this mythical terroir since 1797, when the family acquired land formerly owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Paul. The Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese is a monument to patience and precision. Crafted from 100% Riesling grapes meticulously selected hand-by-hand, this wine captures the magic of noble rot (botrytis) combined with the cool-climate tension of weathered grey and red Devonian slate soils. Fermented in traditional neutral oak Fuder casks using indigenous yeasts, the wine achieves a breathtaking, gravity-defying balance between luscious, honeyed sweetness and a piercing, electric acidity that is the hallmark of the Saar.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany.
