Egon Müller’s Scharzhofberg is the crown jewel of the Saar valley, a legendary vineyard whose history stretches back to the monastic viticulture of the Middle Ages. The Scharzhofberg terroir is characterized by weathered grey Devonian slate and a cool, wind-swept microclimate that preserves vibrant acidity. To produce the elusive Eiswein, grapes must remain on the vine into the freezing depths of winter. Harvested by hand in the freezing pre-dawn hours—often at temperatures below minus seven degrees Celsius—the grapes are pressed while still frozen. This process coaxes out a precious, highly concentrated nectar of intense sweetness, balanced by an electric, crystalline acidity. The Nr. 35 designation represents an exceptionally rare, highly prized auction bottling, epitomizing the pinnacle of Mosel Riesling craftsmanship and natural concentration.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
