Egon Müller’s Scharzhofberger Riesling Eiswein represents the absolute pinnacle of sweet winemaking, born from one of the world's most revered vineyards. Located in the cool Saar valley of the Mosel region, the steep Scharzhofberg hill features deep, weathered grey slate soils that impart a distinct mineral tension. The history of the estate is steeped in lore, tracing back to medieval monks before being acquired by the Müller family in 1797 following the French Revolution. To produce this rare Eiswein, grapes must freeze naturally on the vine, typically requiring temperatures of at least minus seven degrees Celsius. Harvested in the freezing pre-dawn hours, the grapes are pressed while still frozen, concentrating the sugars, acids, and minerals into a nectar of unparalleled intensity, vibrancy, and complexity.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
