Deep in the Saar valley, a sub-region of the Mosel, lies the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, a place where viticultural magic meets extreme climate. Owned in part by the iconic Egon Müller estate since 1797, this south-facing slate slope produces some of the world's most revered Rieslings. The Scharzhofberger Feinste Auslese Eiswein is a mythical elixir born only in rare years when nature permits. It requires the grapes to freeze naturally on the vine, typically harvested in the freezing pre-dawn hours at temperatures of minus seven degrees Celsius or lower. Pressing the frozen grapes leaves behind water ice, yielding a tiny quantity of highly concentrated, nectar-like juice. Combining the intense minerality of Devonian slate, the piercing acidity of the cool Saar climate, and the luscious sweetness of Eiswein, this 100% Riesling is a masterclass in tension, purity, and longevity, carrying centuries of monastic winemaking heritage into every precious drop.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
