The estate of Egon Müller is synonymous with the absolute pinnacle of Mosel Riesling, tracing its viticultural lineage back to the medieval monks of the Abbey of Saint Paul. Nestled in the Saar valley, the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard is a steep, south-facing amphitheater of weathered grey Devonian slate. This particular bottling, the 'Alte Reben Auktion,' is crafted from extremely low-yielding old vines, some of which are ungrafted. It is produced in miniscule quantities exclusively for the annual VDP auction in Trier. Fermented in traditional old oak Fuder casks using native yeasts, this Kabinett is a masterclass in tension, balancing an ethereal, feather-light body with an electric, laser-like acidity, subtle residual sweetness, and a profound, smoky mineral depth that reflects its historic terroir.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
