The Scharzhofberg vineyard in the Saar valley is widely considered one of the greatest white wine terroirs on earth, and under the stewardship of the Egon Müller estate, it reaches its absolute zenith. Cultivated by monks from St. Paul's Abbey in Trier during the Middle Ages, this legendary south-facing slope of weathered grey slate produces 100% Riesling of unparalleled tension and longevity. The Spätlese 'Nr. 1' is a selection of late-harvested grapes that captures the perfect balance of natural sweetness and electric, vibrating acidity. Fermented in traditional large oak casks (Fuder) with minimal intervention, this wine is a masterclass in precision, offering intense aromas of white peach, wet stone, and delicate floral notes, underpinned by a profound, salty minerality that is the signature of this cold, wind-swept site.

Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof traces its heritage to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the historic estate, nestled in Wiltingen along the Saar valley within Germany's famed Mosel region.
