Hailing from the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard in the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel, Egon Müller's Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) represents the absolute pinnacle of sweet noble-rot Riesling. The estate's history dates back to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the confiscated monastic vineyard from the French Republic. The Scharzhofberg slope, with its weathered grey slate soils and cool microclimate, produces grapes of unmatched tension. TBA is only produced in vintages where botrytis develops perfectly, requiring meticulous berry-by-berry selection. The resulting wine is an ethereal elixir of intense sweetness balanced by a vibrant, laser-like acidity, boasting complex notes of dried apricots, honey, and wet stone.
