Hailing from the high-altitude terraces of the Aconcagua Valley, Errazuriz's Aconcagua Alto Carmenere is a masterful expression of Chile's signature grape. The 'Alto' designation refers to the vineyards nestled closer to the Andes, where colluvial soils and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts allow Carmenere to ripen slowly and fully. This unique microclimate tames the grape's natural pyrazines, transforming potential greenness into elegant notes of roasted red pepper, black pepper, and fresh herbs, backed by luscious black plum fruit. Historically, Carmenere was mistaken for Merlot in Chile until its rediscovery in 1994. Errazuriz has spent decades perfecting its cultivation, aging this cuv ee in French oak barrels to seamlessly integrate fine-grained tannins with the wine's natural, vibrant acidity.
