Errazuriz's Las Pizarras Chardonnay represents a groundbreaking chapter in Chilean viticulture, born from a quest to push the boundaries of cool-climate winemaking in the Aconcagua Costa. The name 'Las Pizarras' pays homage to the unique metamorphic slate (pizarra) soils of the estate's coastal vineyards, located just 12 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. This rare geological formation, combined with cold maritime breezes and morning fogs, yields a Chardonnay of extraordinary mineral tension and crystalline purity. Winemaker Francisco Baettig crafts this cuvee with minimal intervention, utilizing native yeasts and aging in French oak barrels with a low proportion of new wood to allow the intense, stony terroir and vibrant acidity to take center stage.
