Viña Errázuriz’s Estate Carmenere is a vibrant tribute to Chile's signature grape, a variety once thought extinct in Europe after the phylloxera epidemic, only to be rediscovered masquerading as Merlot in Chilean vineyards in 1994. Sourced from the sun-drenched slopes of the Aconcagua Valley, this wine benefits from a Mediterranean climate where warm days are tempered by cool evening breezes sweeping down from the Andes and in from the Pacific Ocean. This unique diurnal temperature shift allows the Carmenere grapes to ripen slowly and completely, mitigating the variety's natural pyrazines to reveal lush red fruit and soft, velvety tannins. Fermented in stainless steel and partially aged in French oak barrels, the Estate Carmenere strikes a beautiful balance between fresh, primary fruit characteristics and subtle, spicy oak complexity.
