Historically, Don Maximiano Errázuriz recognized the untapped potential of this valley in 1870, defying critics who believed high-quality viticulture was impossible so far north of Santiago. For this Merlot, grapes are sourced from selected vineyard blocks where clay-loam soils retain the ideal moisture to allow the grape to ripen slowly and evenly, tempered by cool morning breezes from the Pacific Ocean.
