Errazuriz's Merlot Reservado showcases the vibrant fruit character and elegant structure typical of the Aconcagua Valley. Historically, Don Maximiano Errázuriz recognized the untapped potential of this valley in 1870, defying critics who believed high-quality viticulture was impossible so far north of Santiago. For this Merlot, grapes are sourced from selected vineyard blocks where clay-loam soils retain the ideal moisture to allow the grape to ripen slowly and evenly, tempered by cool morning breezes from the Pacific Ocean. The wine is fermented in stainless steel to preserve its bright primary fruit aromas, with a portion aged in French oak barrels to add subtle complexity, soft tannins, and structure, resulting in an approachable yet classic expression of Chilean Merlot.
