Viña Errázuriz’s Max Reserva Shiraz (often labeled as Syrah) is a tribute to the estate's founder, Don Maximiano Errázuriz, who established the winery in 1870. The grapes are sourced from the Max vineyards in the interior of the Aconcagua Valley, where the vines thrive on colluvial soils with high stone content. This specific terroir experiences hot, sunny days tempered by cool evening breezes descending from the Andes Mountains and blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. This dramatic diurnal temperature variation allows the grapes to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness while retaining a vibrant natural acidity.
