The Jose Zuccardi Malbec is a deeply personal tribute from third-generation winemaker Sebastián Zuccardi to his father, José Alberto. This bottling represents an evolution of the historic 'Zuccardi Zeta'—the wine that originally put the family on the global map of fine wine. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, particularly the calcareous soils of Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary, this wine bridges the gap between traditional Mendoza richness and modern terroir-driven precision. In a departure from the heavy, over-oaked styles of the past, it is fermented in concrete vessels and aged in large, neutral oak foudres. This thoughtful winemaking preserves the vibrant acidity, dark fruit purity, and distinctive chalky texture that defines the region's unique alluvial soils, resulting in a complex, structured red with incredible depth and soul.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi in Mendoza, Argentina, Familia Zuccardi has evolved into one of the country's most visionary and prestigious family-owned wine dynasties. Under the leadership of José Alberto Zuccardi and third-generation winemaker Sebastián Zuccardi, the estate has shifted its focus towards high-altitude viticulture in the Uco Valley, pioneering deep geological research and unadorned concrete-vessel fermentations to express genuine site specificity. Operating state-of-the-art facilities like the acclaimed Piedra Infinita winery in Paraje Altamira, Zuccardi produces benchmark, mineral-driven Malbecs such as Finca Piedra Infinita alongside benchmark expressions of Bonarda and Cabernet Sauvignon across red, white, sparkling, and fortified categories.
