Zuccardi's Soleria is a rare and captivating departure from traditional Argentine winemaking, representing a unique fortified Torront s produced using a classic solera system. Initiated in 2002 by Jos Alberto Zuccardi, this ambitious project showcases Argentina's signature white grape, Torront s Riojano, in an entirely oxidative, fortified style. The grapes are harvested late in the season to maximize natural sugar concentration, partially fermented, and then fortified with grape spirit to arrest fermentation and preserve the grape's natural sweetness. The wine is then introduced into a fractional blending solera system of oak casks. Over years of patient aging, the wine develops a deep amber hue and a mesmerizingly complex profile of dried apricots, orange marmalade, toasted nuts, and honey, all while retaining the delicate, exotic floral lift characteristic of the Torront s grape.
