Often affectionately dubbed the 'baby Beaucastel,' Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge hails from a unique vineyard located just east of the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation boundary. The terroir here is a striking mirror image of its legendary neighbor, characterized by Miocene marine molasses covered by a thick layer of alpine diluvium and the famous rounded pebbles known as 'galets roulés.' These stones absorb the intense Provençal sun by day and radiate heat back to the vines at night, fostering optimal ripeness. Crafted with the same meticulous care as the estate's grand vin, the grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in traditional heat-regulated concrete tanks before aging in large oak foudres. This produces a wine of remarkable depth, structure, and rustic elegance, rich with notes of dark berries, garrigue, and black pepper.
