Bodegas Faustino, globally recognized for its iconic portrait-clad Rioja bottles, also applies its centuries-old winemaking expertise to the sparkling world with this Brut Cava Reserva. Crafted in the traditional method within the qualified municipality of Oyón in Rioja—one of the select zones outside Catalonia authorized to produce DO Cava—this wine is typically a vibrant blend of Macabeo (Viura) and Chardonnay. The grapes benefit from the high-altitude, clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa, which impart a crisp acidity and elegant minerality. After secondary fermentation in the bottle, the wine undergoes extended lees aging to develop its characteristic fine bubbles, creamy texture, and complex aromas of white flowers, green apple, and subtle toasted brioche.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1861 by Eleuterio Martínez Arzok, Bodegas Faustino is a historic estate located in Oyón, within the prestigious Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. Now managed by the fourth generation of the Martínez Zabala family, the winery has become globally synonymous with premium Rioja, particularly renowned for its iconic frosted bottles and long-aged Gran Reserva wines. Faustino's winemaking philosophy combines traditional Rioja aging in American and French oak casks with modern techniques, utilizing estate-grown Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo. Beyond their legendary red reservoirs like Faustino I, the estate also crafts elegant whites, rosés, and traditional-method Cava sparkling wines.
