The Quintessence Vineyard, nestled on the steep, south-facing slopes of Washington State's acclaimed Red Mountain AVA, is the birthplace of this remarkably concentrated Merlot. Established as one of the region's premier sites, Quintessence benefits from intense solar radiation, constant canyon winds that thicken the grape skins, and well-drained, mineral-rich gravelly soils. Under the masterful hand of winemaker Charlie Hoppes, Fidelitas coaxes an extraordinary depth of character from this challenging terroir. Unlike the softer, more delicate Merlots of the Old World, this Red Mountain expression is defined by its powerful structure, robust tannins, and intense dark fruit profile. The wine is typically aged in custom-selected French oak barrels, which impart subtle spice and velvety complexity, resulting in a bold, age-worthy Merlot that beautifully showcases the rugged elegance of its origin.

Fidelitas blev grundlagt i 2000 af den erfarne vinmager Charlie Hoppes som et dedikeret håndværkshus med fokus på at udtrykke det unikke terroir i Washington States Red Mountain AVA. Tro mod sit latinske navn – troskab – arbejder vinhuset ud fra en kompromisløs filosofi om at forblive tro mod druesortens og vinmarkens autentiske karakter. Druerne høstes fra berømte parceller som Quintessence, Ciel du Cheval og deres egen Fidelitas Estate Vineyard, hvorefter vinfremstillingen sker i små, nøje kontrollerede partier med målrettet fadlagring på eg. Fidelitas er særligt anerkendt for sine kraftfulde, strukturerede og lagringsværdige rødvine på klassiske Bordeaux-sorter, herunder de roste enkeltmarks-Cabernet Sauvignons, Malbec samt husets signaturcuvée, Optu Red.
